I designed a new logo for the Military Veterans Employee Resource Group at Akamai using their existing brand manual and guidelines that dictated that the logo must be versatile to be used on anything from a t-shirt to a web page with any color background. I used their original logo for inspiration, keeping the stars (there are six: one star for each branch of the military). Since Akamai is an international company, I kept company colors so as not to be specific to the U.S. I delivered several variations before they came to a consensus on the logo below, which is now used on the Akamai website on their Workplace Diversity Page.
